Have you seen Noise this week?

Pick up a copy of the Noise this week and you will get a chance to see The Chief and Homeslice smiling right at you! They made the cover, The Chief's 2nd time gracing this spot, as two Eastsiders. Its a fantastic photo and the article is well done too. One of the kitties made it in a photo too!

You all rock, thanks for representing Dyke heights!

The Progressive Connection; Lansing Progressive Connection; Lansing Area Progressive Network; Home Page

hey Y'all -

This seems to be a good place for the latest info on relief efforts for Katrina. My offer to volunteer at the Red Cross has gone unanswered for 4 days, so F** 'em. (I know it is because they are reeling from your loss, Rockstar).

Peace.

Dear Something higher then myself,

Sorry for posting too much. I am sending an email to the Whitehouse. I know the chances of it doing anything is slim, but I thought it would release some anger. But what's beyond anger and pissed off and direspected and hurt, and powerless, and ...oh fuck just read

As quoted on the white house page:
White House Web Mail
Thank you for your interest in contacting President George W. Bush by Web Mail. President Bush welcomes your views, suggestions, and concerns.
White House Web Mail is designed to provide an additional means by which individuals can communicate with the White House and receive automated, timely, and substantive responses on a wide variety of issues. This system provides U.S. citizens and residents with the opportunity to submit a written message and allows the President and his staff real-time access to their comments. However, due to the large volume of e-mail submissions, we cannot assure that each message will be personally reviewed.
If you are interested in commenting on other topics, or if your message is sensitive or requires personal attention, please do not use this system. Please write President Bush at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC 20502 or fax to 202-456-2461.
White House Web Mail also allows individuals to request a greeting electronically.
Thank you for your interest in White House Web Mail.

When you click to send an email this pops up
White House Web Mail Greeting Requests
An online form is available for U.S. citizens interested in requesting a greeting from President George W. Bush in recognition of an anniversary, baby's birth, birthday, or wedding.

and the steps get worse from there. By the end of it...you get to an error page with a button that takes you back to the beginning.

MY GOVERNMENT IS RAN BY ASS HOLES!

Here are emails I found somewhere else to send responses: president@whitehouse.gov , comments@whitehouse.gov

Personal Note of Katrina

Thanks Stonetree for offering up the info below on Katrina. I have a friend who lives/lived in New Orleans. Fortunately for her she was starting a new job in LA and was out of town getting situated and finding a place to live. Her home in New Orleans is competely underwater and all of her things, except for the stuff in her travel suitcase is gone. It was very hard not knowing if she was safe or alive. Emails unanswered felt like unanswered prayers to God.

She is fine and feels fortunate...no blessed that she was not there and that the universe had given her an opportunity to not be there...but her friends are and some she is not sure if they are alive and her life is gone. I am not sure why I am writing except to for anyone reading offering a personal report of Katrina. And that please put out good thoughts for her friends and everyone still down there, waiting for help, waiting to be saved.

nobody panic

I'm changing the settings so that when you make a comment you will need to enter the secret word. This is so we don't get spammed in our comment field by robots. I am erasing the comments that i can that are actually ads.

Teaching of Creationism Is Endorsed in New Survey - New York Times

Teaching of Creationism Is Endorsed in New Survey - New York Times

Look, if I am going to be freaking out about how messed up my country is, so are you.

So much crazy in my head and in the world

Couple of things to look at:

A really elegant explanation of why people didn't leave

And why I hate the media

Meanwhile, Mr. Man suggested we mail people in New Orleans part of our dinner. We did register at http://www.hurricanehousing.org/ to provide housing if anyone wants to come this far north, which is not as far fetched as you might think. Also, please forward the link to people you know who might live closer.

I could rant for pages. If you want to hear it, call me.
